Author’s Note

Ruturaj Barik grew up with science on his desk and poetry hidden beneath it. There are times when life does not ask for solutions... while formulas and equations explained the world, they could never console a breaking soul or ease a night of silence. For him, poetry became the refuge—the rhythm of lines replacing the logic of proofs, metaphors carrying the weight that numbers could not. From the thin poetry books he once bought in secret at railway stalls to the verses he now writes openly, his journey has been about surrendering to words. His poems do not seek to follow every rule; they exist to breathe, to ache, to heal—offering readers a space where art speaks the truths that science leaves untouched.

About the Book

This book is not meant to be read in order—it is meant to be wandered through, like rain that pours, pauses, and drizzles again. Its rhythm shifts between long poems, sharp shayari, sudden one-liners, and circles back, each piece divided by a simple line so it stands on its own while belonging to the whole. On the left pages you’ll find the poems in Devanagari script with translations; on the right, their Hinglish transliterations for those who may not read Hindi but still want to hear its cadence. Some pieces carry glossaries, others stand without explanation. Scattered among them are English poems and playful shayari, because poetry is not only heartbreak—it is also wit, rebellion, and laughter. Despite what people may assume, the only pain the author complains about is the mileage of his Redwing. This collection is not homework to finish but an invitation to open anywhere, read what calls to you, and let the words sting, console, or amuse as they will.
